Welcome

Introduction

My argument is that Global warming is caused by humans. There are many many arguments for and against Global warming however, i will cover ones that are far more dangerous than others. However, three key arguments will be mounted against the idea that humans are the main cause of the Global warming.

My three arguments are the ones which are major driver of the global warming and they are Greenhouse gases(Co2, Methane, Nitrous oxide), Deforestation and Pollution. After this, there will be What impact Global warming has on environment. Finally there will a conclusion.

What causes global warming?
First of all what is Global warming? Most simplest definition would be Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of earth's near surface.

Greenhouse gases

Greenhouses gases is one of the main driver of Global warming but first of all what is Greenhouse gases and how do they effect global warming? In simple words Greenhouse gases are the gases which trap heat in earth's atmosphere and reflect it back to the sun. Gases such as Methane and Carbon dioxide are the Greenhouse gases. However you might think what does human's have to do with greenhouse gases?

Greenhouse Effect
When sun light reaches earth's surface some of is absorbed and warms the planet and most of it is radiated back to the atmosphere at a longer wavelength than the sun light. Some of these longer wavelengths are absorbed by the greenhouse gases which are in atmosphere. This absorption of this long-wave radiant energy warms the atmosphere. These greenhouse gases which is like mirrors and reflect back the heat energy to the earth in fact which should be lost in space but it doesn't due to Greenhouse gases.

  • Co2: Co2 is a greenhouse gas, it is released when the fossil fuels are burned. But what is fossil fuels? Fossil fuels are made up of organic matter such as, oil and coal. This site gives strong reasons that humans cause more global warming than it is caused naturally. Mainly it talks about how the global warming is caused due to increase in human pollution, population and CO2.

    • What is the evidence that Greenhouse gases level have increased? IPCC (The intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) believe that changes in climate (atmosphere, oceans, ice caps) are caused due to human activities. They released a report which finds that human actions are "very likely" the cause of the global warming, meaning 90% greater probability.
    • Report released by The New York times which tells Global warming has begun and is very likely caused by human and will be unstoppable for centuries. Also it says that global warming is caused by man's burning of fossil fuels which is the strongest conclusion to date, therefore it is impossible to blame nature.
  • Deforestation: Trees are one of the most important part of our ecosystem. They help human's in many ways from turning carbon dioxide into oxygen to shelter for human's to live in. There are millions and millions of people in the world, in order for humans to live they need oxygen however they breathe out Co2. How is this a problem? because trees are being chopped down to clear up some land in order for human's to make buildings and we aren't replacing the trees because trees are an important part of our ecosystem. These trees convert carbon dioxide into oxygen for us. So if there is increase in Co2 then there is decrease in oxygen also.
    • According to university of Maryland researchers they believed that deforestation has decreased between 1980s and 1990s, but they have increased. So this shows the increase in the Co2 levels.
    • People think that global warming is caused by burning of fossil fuels but 25%-30% (1.6 billion tonnes) of Greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere is caused by deforestation.
    • "In the next 24 hours, deforestation will release as much CO2 into the atmosphere as 8 million people flying from London to New York." (Howden D, 2007). This site talks about how much trees are useful to use and it also shows how trees helps us in other ways then just turning Co2 into oxygen.

  • Pollution: There are billions of people in the world and people need food to survive. Since there are many people which requires more methods of transportation. More people means more cars and more cars equals more pollution.
    • Who is producing more pollution? Americans make up just 4% of the world's population however they produce 25% of carbon dioxide pollution from fossil fuels burning. This is by far greater than other countries such as China, India and Japan.
This site argues that  global warming is caused due to The green house effect. It shows graph of global fossil carbon emissions which shows how much it has increased in 200 years.

This site National Geographic News states that global warming is happening and it will continue happening even if the greenhouse-gas emissions are stabilized. Then it talks about what IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) believes that human activities are responsible for global warming. After it shows the difference how much global warming has risen in last century.

If humans continue causing greenhouse gases

Global warming has major major impact on our environment. Picture on right hand side tells you everything! One of the impact that global warming can have on the environment is cause ice to melt. It makes harder for Animals that like in Antarctica to survive.

Once ice melts which makes sea levels to rise when this happens water covers the low level areas. This can have impact on plants because water can cover plants and cause them to die.

This links shows how the climate change can impact our environment.

Global warming cause other catastrophic things like hurricanes, volcanic eruption (releases Greenhouse gases).

This site debates whether humans have caused global warming or it is occurring naturally, but clearly the human's doings outweigh the natural occurrence. It gives strong evidence of how much things that happened recently as well as hundreds of years ago. Then it talks about how much global warming has risen over couple of centuries.

    Conclusion

It clearly shows that human's are causing more Global warming But global warming can be stopped if the greenhouse gases levels are controlled and kept under certain limit. Also we need to come up with new ways in order to keep Greenhouse gases levels low.
